Similarities Between Lisa Marie and Elvis's Deaths

Unexpected parallels between Lisa Marie Presley’s abrupt death in January and that of her famous father, Elvis Presley, in 1977 can be seen in the recently revealed autopsy report.

According to the story, Lisa Marie, who passed away on Jan. 12 at the age of 54, had experienced a number of health issues in the months before her death, much like Elvis did, including persistent fevers, nausea, abdominal discomfort, and vomiting.

She underwent bariatric surgery several years ago, but she ultimately passed away from a “sequelae of a small bowel obstruction,” which is a recognized long-term side effect of the weight-loss procedure.

According to the story, Lisa Marie had complained of stomach ache the morning of her death and was found unconscious at her Calabasas home by her ex-husband, allegedly Danny Keough. She was then rushed to the hospital.

Elvis’ death certificate listed a heart attack as the reason of death, but he also experienced the same issues; according to PBS, pathologists Dr. Eric Muirhead and Dr. Noel Florredo discovered signs of severe and chronic constipation during a post-mortem examination.

The King of Rock was reportedly seated on the toilet when he passed away and “straining very hard to have a bowel movement, a maneuver that put a great deal of pressure on his heart and aorta,” which the source speculated may have led to his demise.

Presley reportedly had a number of physical conditions that contributed to his demise; according to his uncle Vester Presley, the singer “was very sick for the last two years — liver problems, bad colon, enlarged heart.”

Elvis, 42, was discovered in the toilet of his Graceland estate in Memphis after experiencing a medical emergency by someone close to him: his former girlfriend Ginger Alden.

According to The New York Times, Dr. George Nichopoulos, a friend of Elvis’ and a physician, claimed that Elvis passed away from hypertensive heart disease, with coronary artery heart disease playing a role.

According to Lisa Marie’s autopsy report, she experienced heart problems while in the emergency hospital and required a temporary pacemaker implant owing to life-threatening heart arrhythmias. She continued to deteriorate until she finally experienced a heart arrest and was declared dead 20 minutes later.

Both father and daughter also had various drugs in their systems when they died, though neither are thought to have contributed to their cause of death.

Lisa Marie’s toxicology reports yielded similar results; she had oxycodone in her blood (she was prescribed medicine for pain after undergoing cosmetic surgery months earlier), as well as the antidepressant quetiapine metabolite, norbuprenorphine and buprenorphine, which treats opioid addiction. The coroner noted that the drugs did not contribute to her death.

The report states that the decedent had a history of overmedicating and that she frequently forgot to take her meds and would take them again. She has a history of abusing alcohol and illegal substances. According to reports, she had quit both since 2015. Every day, she smoked about 1 pack of cigarettes.

In the months after Lisa Marie’s passing, her mother Priscilla tried to wrestle control of the late star’s trust away from her and place it in the custody of her daughter Riley Keough, according to friends.

In June, a settlement was struck in which Riley took over as the only executor of Lisa Marie’s estate and agreed to pay Priscilla $1 million as well as $400K in legal costs to end the dispute over the family trust.
