In a heartbreaking incident, 18-month-old twin siblings, Lokclyn and Loreli, drowned in their own backyard pool in Oklahoma City. The twins’ mother, Jenny Callazzo, discovered the lifeless bodies of her precious babies after realizing that her great-grandmother, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, had unintentionally left the pool door open.

The devastating incident occurred at the family’s home, where Jenny, a stay-at-home mother and boutique owner, resides with her husband Sonny, their six children, and her grandmother. Sonny, a 42-year-old marketing executive, is shaken by the tragedy that unfolded before their eyes.

According to authorities, the twins were unresponsive when their mother found them. Tragically, despite efforts to revive them, the twins were pronounced dead two hours later.

This heartbreaking accident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers that can exist within our own homes, especially for young children. In this case, the combination of Alzheimer’s disease and a momentary lapse in memory led to an unimaginable tragedy.

While law enforcement officers involved in the investigation do not suspect foul play, it is a tragic reminder to always prioritize child safety. Accidents can happen in an instant, and the consequences can be devastating.

Moved by the family’s loss, a GoFundMe page has been set up to support them during this difficult time. The page reads, “These beautiful babies were taken from us too soon. Anything you can give to help with expenses would be greatly appreciated. We appreciate everyone’s love and support.”

Trauma coordinator at OU Health, Laura Gamino, emphasizes the importance of vigilance when it comes to child safety. Parents need to be aware of potential hazards and take steps to prevent accidents before they occur.

Gamino explains, “Children are naturally drawn to water, but they lack the skills to help themselves if they find themselves in danger. Drowning can happen suddenly and silently, which makes it all the more frightening. It’s a misconception to think a child in distress will be making noise, as their mouths may already be filled with water.”

Let’s honor the memory of Lokclyn and Loreli by raising awareness about child safety around water and supporting their grieving family during this devastating time.
