Meghan Markle was dubbed a Hollywood diva as soon as she was first photographed with Prince Harry. The hatred for Markle only grew when she and “H” (as she refers to him) were married on May 19, 2018. She was even referred to by Kensington Palace insiders as a “diva duchess” and a “duchess difficult,” according to several U.K. newspapers.
As The Sun reported, royal workers charged Markle of making absurd demands and seeking to buck royal protocol and tradition by introducing contemporary ideas. Despite the fact that this doesn’t seem all that horrible, Markle’s determination allegedly surprised the family and their staff, particularly when they contrasted her actions to those of “duchess of dazzle” Kate Middleton, who had already begun preparing to become the future queen of England.

The public has been cruel to Markle throughout her time in the limelight, portraying her as a terrible boss and social climber superstar. Recently, Markle’s 2005 Cuts co-star Simon Rex revealed on the Hollywood Raw podcast that he had been paid $70,000 by a British magazine to fabricate their “hooking up” with Markle. According to Rex, “I said no to a lot of money because I didn’t feel right lying and fg up the royal fg family.”

While the actress seems to get along just well with her former Suits co-stars, some other actors can’t like Meghan Markle. According to Vanity Fair, Wendy Williams said in December 2017 that Markle is “a bit of a wild card” in her opinion since she transitioned from being “the Deal of No Deal girl” to playing the princess card with Prince Harry at her side.
Piers Morgan, a British TV personality, has also criticized Markle on several occasions. He claimed that he and Markle were friends before she met Harry in a lengthy op-ed he published for the Daily Mail in 2018, but when he tried to get in touch with her after that, she ignored him! Markle never reacted to any of his comments in the media. The Mirror stated that British writer Katie Hopkins has referred to Markle as “Instagram-addicted” and “a budget Princess Di with an Oscar winning innocent face” throughout the years, adding to the animosity.
Even the royal family thought Markle was overly demanding, as Radar Online revealed. Prince William was upset by the way Markle supposedly turned Prince Harry against his royal traditions, a royal source told the publication. The criticism has continued even after Markle and Harry left their positions as senior royals to focus on becoming financially independent parents to their son Archie. After all the stress the former Hollywood star created for the family, Radar stated that William and his wife Kate are “so happy” the couple is no longer together. Yikes!

Despite the persistent criticism, Meghan Markle has mostly remained mute. However, in the breathtaking ITV documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, she acknowledged that royal life was more difficult than she had anticipated. She said that she struggled to adapt to the British way of life, or “stiff upper lip,” according to PopSugar. It’s not enough to just get by, you know? Prince Harry defended his wife in the same interview, stating that the criticism she faced while in the British limelight reminded him of the animosity directed at his late mother, Princess Diana, just before she was killed in a car accident while being pursued by photographers. Harry added, “Putting on a brave face is part of this job but there is a lot of stuff that hurts for me and my wife, especially when the majority of it is untrue.”
According to Express, the couple’s open discussion infuriated and alarmed the royal family, but Markle and Harry persisted in standing up for themselves and, a few months later, renounced their royal titles.
