Following the star of Little Prairie’s terrifying announcement, Melissa Gilbert’s followers are praying for him.

Acting appears to be over for the lovely Melissa Gilbert, who played Laura Ingalls on NBC’s Little House on the Prairie and was admired by millions almost immediately after making her on-screen debut.

She and her husband Tim Busfield now lead a tranquil existence away from the glitz of Hollywood. After purchasing a 14-acre plot of land in the Catskill Mountains where they raise poultry and grow crops, the two have been living in upstate New York. Additionally, despite the actress’s peace and tranquillity at home on the farm, she just had a major accident that required hospitalization.

Specifically, Melissa was stung by a bug; at first, she didn’t think much of it, but soon, her hand began to swell.

Once she arrived at the Bon Secours hospital in Port Jervis, New York, she was identified as having cellulitis, a bacterial skin illness that “can occur when bacteria enter your body because of a cut, scrape, or break in the skin, such as a bug bite,” according to Healthline.

Gilbert captioned Melissa’s Instagram photo of her hand in an IV and a close-up of her swollen arm, “A Public Service Announcement: Well that was a fun night in the ER (she said with dripping sarcasm),” which Melissa had written. “My arm was bitten by a flying bug (not a bee or wasp) two days ago. My arm was extremely swollen, red, and hot by last night.

“I called my doctor, and he advised that we rush to the ER. Timothy answered, “Absolutely not,” when I was about to wait. We’re leaving! I was given the diagnosis of cellulitis and an abscess following numerous tests.

She experienced immediate pain relief after receiving an intravenous infusion of clindamycin, Benedryl, and acetaminophen from the doctors.

“Had me up all night, still. She stated, “Starting antibiotics, Benadryl, and ibuprofen orally today. Please take bug bites carefully and take precautions to prevent consequences.

“Lesson learned: treat insect bites seriously! Don’t put off getting treated because you think it’s just a small bite if it starts to swell up severely (my entire upper arm was swelled!). How much worse can things get? Visit the ER, urgent care, or your doctor. She declared, “I’m serious.

When Laura Ingalls Wilder was alive, this would have resulted in death or amputation. Treatment is accessible. I will now take my medication and rest like the wonderful little bunny I am. Stupid insect bite.

We are pleased with Melissa’s improved health at this point.
