A “serious” infection has caused Madonna to be admitted to the hospital.

The 64-year-old “Material Girl” singer was hospitalized owing to a health concern, and Guy Oseary, a talent manager and producer, revealed on Instagram on Wednesday that she is currently healing.

“Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection on Saturday, June 24, which resulted in a several-day stay in the ICU,” he wrote. Although her health is getting better, she is still receiving medical attention. A complete recovery is anticipated.

The statement said, “At this time we will need to pause all commitments, including the tour.” Madonna was getting ready to start her Celebration World Tour, which will mark the 40th anniversary of her career, next month.

As soon as we have more information, such as a new start date for the tour and new dates for the rescheduled performances, we will let you know.

Madonna’s most recent medical issue occurred in late 2020, when she underwent hip replacement surgery. This was 11 months after she had to cancel several gigs on the North American leg of her Madame X tour due to an injury.

The music legend discussed the grueling operation during her Madame X Presents: Madame Xtra Q&A special in 2021.

She admitted at the time, “Let me be really honest with you—I used to be, like, a fitness/workout maniac.” You’re aware of that, right?… I was in more agony than I’ve ever been in my life throughout my [2019 Madame X] tour—I don’t know whether you’ve seen it, but I’m limping a lot. I underwent hip replacement surgery, so I’m a bionic woman.

“So, how can I maintain my fitness? All of it is in your head. It is known as willpower, it is known as no one’s gonna stop me, and it is how I maintain my physical fitness. I don’t think there are any restrictions, so that’s how I remain in shape,” Madonna continued.
