A Brave and Inspiring Young Girl

The yearly class photo day is always an exciting event for kids. They get to choose their own outfits and show off their unique style. But for some children, this day can be overwhelming. They worry about what others will think of their everyday attire and find it uncomfortable to pose for pictures.

Three-year-old Kaylieann Steinbach was eagerly looking forward to her class photo day. She couldn’t wait to pick out her own clothes and showcase her individuality. However, when she saw the outfits her parents had laid out for her, her excitement quickly turned into sadness.

Kaylieann, who has severe hearing loss and struggles with the letter “S,” has her own special names for her favorite superheroes. Superman and Supergirl become “Pooterman” and “Pootergirl” in her world. So, there was no doubt about what she wanted to wear for her class picture.

“Pootergirl!” she exclaimed to her parents when they presented her with various outfits. And her dad, Austin Steinbach, couldn’t argue with her choice.

A True Superhero

With a big smile on her face, Kaylieann proudly posed for the photographers wearing her Supergirl suit and holding a doll. She radiated happiness and confidence as she embraced her unique style. She knew she was a true superhero, even if her name for them was a little different.

Kaylieann’s love for dressing up doesn’t stop at her class photo day. She often surprises her classmates and teachers with different costumes every day. The anticipation of which superhero suit she’ll wear next has become a special part of their daily routine.

A Touching Response

When Austin shared Kaylieann’s class photo on Reddit, he never expected the overwhelming response it would receive. Messages of support and encouragement poured in from the deaf community and beyond.

Austin was blown away by the kindness and love shown to his daughter. “I still haven’t been able to get through all the messages of support and kind words people have sent me,” he shared. “I could never have imagined how much her picture could have touched so many.”

Kaylieann, the Real Superhero

Kaylieann’s decision to be herself and embrace her unique identity is truly inspiring. Despite facing challenges with her hearing loss, she continues to shine and spread joy wherever she goes. She proves that being a superhero isn’t about having special powers, but about having the courage to be yourself.
