The actor spoke candidly on the parallels between modern life and artificial intelligence in the enduring film series.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is in awe of the Terminator movies’ brilliance.

The 75-year-old actor complimented the franchise’s writer and director James Cameron during a Wednesday appearance at An Evening with Arnold Schwarzenegger in Los Angeles and declared that the future of artificial intelligence Cameron foresaw in the films had “become a reality.”

Regarding the present worries about AI, Schwarzenegger remarked, “Today, everyone is frightened of it, of where this is gonna go.” “And in this movie, Terminator, we talk about the machines becoming self-aware and they take over,”

Given that “at that time we (had) scratched the surface of AI, artificial intelligence,” the actor praised the “brilliance of writing” in the 1984 sci-fi film, in which he starred as a cyborg assassin. Do that in your mind.

In recent years, it has materialized into reality. Therefore, it is no longer fantastical or somewhat futuristic. Today, it is present. Consequently, this is Jim Cameron’s outstanding writing,” Schwarzenegger added in the on-stage discussion that was intended to support his limited edition TASCHEN photo book.

“He’s just such an extraordinary writer and he’s such an unbelievable director, this is again one of those things that I wish I could take credit for this movie,” the former bodybuilder continued of Cameron, 68. Only the character I played and how I played it are to blame for my success. But, you know, he invented this character. Because of how effectively he wrote it and the movie, he is, as you may know, the best director in the entire world.

Last month, Schwarzenegger discussed how Cameron almost persuaded him to repeat the famous “I’ll be back” line from the action franchise.

I was uncomfortable saying “I’ll,” so [James] Cameron and I debated how to say the line. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Schwarzenegger recalled their conversation. “I said, ‘I think it’s stronger to say, ‘I will be back.’”

“Are you the scriptwriter now?” Cameron reportedly retorted, according to the former governor of California. It only has one word. Don’t instruct me on writing. I don’t direct your behavior. Schwarzenegger said that he retaliated at Cameron by telling him that he directed his behavior “every f—— minute!”

Cameron, who also directed Titanic and Avatar, took a different tack and described himself. “You think that sounds strange, Arnold. There isn’t. You sound different from me or Charlie over there, which is fantastic. That is how it operates.

Say it 10 times, he instructed. Say it in several ways. I’ll continue to roll the camera. Then we will select one.

They put things up, and I tell them flatly, ‘I’ll be back.’ (with delight) I’ll be back! … I’ll be back, I’ll be back (guttural)” Schwarzenegger related the story. It sounded ridiculous.

Fans, however, understood that the famous line was anything from foolish, and it gained popularity almost immediately. “The movies are released. In Central Park, I am. He told THR, “This guy walks up and says, ‘Say the line!’”
