According to her family, the influencer had an emergency C-section and brain surgery at the same moment after an aneurysm ruptured.

A week before her due date, an aneurysm ruptured, necessitating emergency C-section surgery and brain surgery, respectively, for social media star Jackie Miller James.

According to a GoFundMe page set up by James’ two sisters, James suffered from “severe brain bleeding” and was placed in a medically-induced coma, where she remained as of May 31. (A spokesman for the fundraising website, GoFundMe, confirmed to TODAY.com the legitimacy of the GoFundMe page.)

According to her relatives, she will likely spend weeks in the intensive care unit and months in the hospital.

James gave birth to a baby girl, who spent 12 days in the neonatal critical care unit owing to the “traumatic” circumstances of her birth, according to the family. The family posted a picture of James unconscious holding her unborn child on her chest on the fundraising page.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, aneurysms happen when a blood vessel bulges or widens as a result of a weak arterial wall. Often, people don’t realize they have one until it bursts, which is a medical emergency that needs to be attended to right away. About 2% to 5% of healthy individuals have unruptured aneurysms.

James was located by her husband and taken right away to the hospital, according to the GoFundMe page.

Her sisters commented, “We probably would have lost both of them if Jackie and the baby had arrived at the hospital a few minutes later.”

The family has “optimistic” faith in James’ ability to “beat the odds.”

Even though it will be a difficult journey, the sisters vowed to return Jackie to her daughter and husband. James’ family has been contacted by TODAY.com for additional insight into her condition.

The online fundraising campaign, which has raised more than $146,000 of its $250,000 goal as of publication, is meant to pay for out-of-pocket medical expenses like speech therapy, physical therapy, and house modifications.

Sofia Richie and Adrienne Bailon-Houghton are two of James’ 30,000 Instagram followers. James is recognized for providing stuff regarding relationships and beauty. She was married in 2022, and four months ago, she posted on social media about her pregnancy.

James often shared updates about her pregnancy, covering anything from the unexpected symptoms to open views about motherhood.

On April 5, James wrote a message about feeling anxious and excited at the same time to commemorate 33 weeks.

“How odd it is to be so eager and feel so prepared while also feeling so anxious and unsure of yourself. But how beautiful are the times when I get out of the shower and genuinely stop to admire what my body is capable of and giggle in complete disbelief at the knowledge that our baby girl is inside my womb,” she wrote in the caption.

On May 18, James published a carousel of images of her holding her unborn child.

She captioned the picture “39 Weeks,” adding a pink bow emoji.
