Carrie received 2 engagement rings from Aidan - a pear shaped diamond on a gold band and a 3-carat Asscher-cut diamond

Fans of Sex and the City are aware that the show’s basis is made up of tutus, polka dots, and Manolos, but we can never forget the diamonds that completed the ensembles.

She prefers her money where she can see it, as Carrie Bradshaw memorably remarked! The SATC ladies continue to be fashion icons even after all these years, as evidenced by Charlotte’s (Kristin Davis) Elizabeth Taylor-inspired jewel and Carrie’s (Sarah Jessica Parker) iconic black diamond.

So let’s go back in time to the late 1990s and early 2000s to look at every ring from the popular series.

Trey and Charlotte

Trey (Kyle MacLachlan) brings Charlotte to Tiffany’s to look at rings, and Charlotte mistakes the excursion as a proposal, leading to an unintentional engagement. This solitaire ring, which has a round-cut diamond set on a silver band, is appropriate for Charlotte’s understated yet refined sense of style. The ring eventually left Charlotte’s finger after her marriage broke down, although it did assist Carrie in paying off her apartment.

Aidan and Carrie

Carrie received 2 engagement rings from Aidan - a pear shaped diamond on a gold band and a 3-carat Asscher-cut diamond

As the fashion-forward writer worried about Carrie’s dislike of the first pear-shaped diamond on a gold band (which Miranda helped choose), Aidan (John Corbett) got Carrie not one, but two engagement rings in the series. In the end, she was given a Harry Winston 3-carat Asscher-cut diamond ring, which was a better fit for her. Carrie made the decision to wear the ring around her neck rather than on her finger in one of the most iconic scenes from the series. That is, until shortly after the relationship was severed by the notorious Post-It note.

Harry and Charlotte

Charlotte received a 5-carat emerald cut ring from Harry

This time, Charlotte is presented with a meaningful and loving proposal. At a synagogue mixer, Harry (Evan Handler) tearsily asks Charlotte to marry him in one of SATC’s most swoon-worthy (and fan-favorite) sequences. She accepts and puts on the 5-carat emerald cut ring, which was modeled by the one Richard Burton gave Elizabeth Taylor in 1968.

Miranda and Steve

We never see Steve give Miranda an engagement ring in the show, though in later episodes, you can see her wearing a simple gold band

The marriage of Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Steve (David Eigenberg) was sealed in arguably one of the show’s more romantic proposals. At a nearby bar, Miranda asked Steve to marry her, but there was no engagement ring in sight. The lawyer can be seen wearing a delicate gold band in subsequent episodes, which matches with her understated fashion throughout the entire series.

Samantha and Smith Jerrod

While Samantha didn’t officially get engaged, she did get a pretty impressive ring from her long time lover Smith Jerrod - a floral ring adorned with diamonds

Okay, so this one isn’t technically an engagement ring, but Samantha (Kim Cattrall) getting this close to an engagement has to count for something. The unique ring, which she had been eyeing before Smith Jerrod (Jason Lewis) is made up of hundreds of tiny diamonds in the shape of a blossoming flower by Romona M. Boucher of Bastion. Although the couple doesn’t last, the ring stays on Samantha’s finger as a symbol of her love for herself.

Carrie and Big

Mr. Big proved his love to Carrie with a 5-carat black diamond engagement ring

In the second movie in the SATC film saga, the moment everyone waited years for came to fruition — Big (Chris Noth) proposed. In true Carrie fashion, the ring was anything but conventional, with it being a 5-carat black diamond designed by Parker herself in collaboration with SATC costume designer Patricia Fields and jewelry designer Itay Malkin. After many ups and downs between the couple, the ring meant a whole lot more than an engagement, and this time, Carrie wore it on her finger.
