Michael J. Fox, the beloved Hollywood actor known for his acting abilities and charismatic personality, has faced many challenges, especially since his Parkinson’s diagnosis. Nevertheless, he has always lived his life to the fullest. Recently, he experienced the loss of his mother, a devastating moment for any devoted son. But, of course, he will never forget her.

The news of Michael J. Fox reuniting with his co-star Christopher Lloyd in their breakthrough project, Back to the Future, made headlines. People were overjoyed to see the dynamic duo together again, reminiscing about the movie we all know and love.

While the panel was filled with memories of the film, Fox also wanted to take the time to honor his mother’s memory. During his panel at the New York Comic-Con (NYCC), he opened up about losing his mother a few weeks ago and shared heartfelt stories about her.

He revealed that his mother never supported his decision to take on the role in Back to the Future. In fact, she had good reason not to. At the time, he was already working during the day on Family Ties. When he told his mother about the opportunity, she advised against it, expressing concerns about his fatigue.

“I was 23 years old,” Fox recalled. “I called her, she was in Canada, and I said, ‘They want me to do this Steven Spielberg movie, but I have to do it at night and I have to do Family Ties in the daytime.’ And she said, ‘You’ll be too tired.’”

Despite her reservations, Fox went ahead with the role, admitting that his mother might have been right. “I live for this kind of tired. It’ll be okay,” he assured her. “To this day — well, till two weeks ago — my mother thought it was a really bad idea for me to do Back to the Future. She loved the movie, [but she was right], I got tired.”

His mother, Phyllis, passed away at the age of 92. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1929, she lived a long and fulfilling life. She faced many losses throughout her life, including her husband, all four of her siblings, and even two of her children.

Phyllis is survived by four of her children, including Michael J. Fox, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Despite his own health challenges with Parkinson’s, Fox remains an advocate of positive thinking and always looks at the bright side. In the last year alone, he experienced multiple injuries, including a broken cheek, eye socket, hand, elbow, and shoulder. But these experiences only reinforced his belief in gratitude.

“Well, in the last year I’ve had a rough year of getting beat up,” he revealed. “But that was really cool because it made me realize … with gratitude, it’s sustainable.”

Fox emphasized the importance of finding something to be grateful for, as it can sustain us through life’s challenges. He believes in the power of optimism, stating, “I’d say optimism is thinking that things are more likely to get better than they are to get worse. If you believe in that, and you are grateful for it, that’ll sustain you the rest of your life.”

Losing a mother is a heartbreaking experience, but it brings comfort to know that Phyllis Fox lived a long and fulfilling life. She witnessed several generations of her family grow and thrive over the years.

It is a beautiful way for Michael J. Fox to remember his mother and honor her memory. We send our warmest wishes to the Fox family during this difficult time.
