A SUSPECT in the murder of JonBenét Ramsey had a cannibalistic obsession and even said he pulled off a child’s flesh to “taste it” a few years before the pageant queen was savagely murdered.

In Limon, Colorado, 59-year-old Gary Oliva is a convicted pedophile who is currently serving an indefinite jail sentence for possessing child pornography.

He was detained in Boulder in June 2016, and his release will only be considered if he successfully completes the state’s program for treating sex offenders.

Oliva was found to have hundreds of photographs of child sex abuse saved on his phone when he was hauled into jail.

More than 300 images of JonBenét Ramsey, including shots of her autopsy, shrines to the murdered girl, and pictures of cannibalism and the mutilation of corpses, were also in the serial killer’s hands.

Legendary detective Lou Smit suggested Oliva as a suspect in the early 2000s murder of JonBenét.

Oliva had connections to a property 13 homes from the Ramseys at the time of JonBenét’s mysterious death in December 1996. She also attended a candlelight vigil for the six-year-old a year after her murder.

In 1991, Oliva attempted to kill his mother by strangling her with a telephone wire. Oliva has a history of abusing children.

The Ramsey family previously cited Oliva and his proximity to the crime scene as an illustration of Boulder PD’s failure to pursue all viable leads in the wake of JonBenét’s passing while remaining fixated on a hastily-drawn notion that either of her parents, John and Patsy, were probably responsible.

BPD was first made aware of Oliva the day after JonBenét was discovered dead by one of his former classmates who had received a call from him hours earlier during which he sobbed, “I hurt a little girl.”

This article is a part of a series looking into Gary Oliva’s possible involvement in JonBenét Ramsey’s murder.

Michael Vail, a former classmate who has maintained contact with Oliva through letters and voicemails for many years, believes he played a role in her slaying.

Vail informed The U.S. Sun that during their frequent discussions, Oliva repeatedly admitted to being accountable for the girl’s murder and constantly discussed his alleged cannibalism inclinations and necrophilia fantasies.

These contacts include Oliva sending Vail pencil sketches of JonBenét consuming portions of his corpse and a plethora of other heinous works of art.

During a 2019 jailhouse call, Vail recalled a gruesome conversation he had with Oliva in which Oliva said that he had once eaten the flesh of one of his abused victims.

The suspected incident happened not long before Oliva was detained in Oregon in 1990 and accused of molesting a young girl there.

Vail recalled his meeting with Oliva, saying: “From approximately 2016, I started getting letters from Gary where he talked about being a pedophile […] and wanted to devour kids.

“It was very disturbing, but he talked about cannibalism and the girl in Oregon, and how he brought her outside and burned her skin just so he could taste it.

He claimed he burned her skin solely for the purpose of removing it and tasting it. “It just makes me feel sick.”

SICK LETTERS AND RECORDINGS

Vail stated that he believes Oliva to be a serious threat to society and that he hopes he is never released from prison.

A few years after they both graduated from Ventura High School in California, he began writing to Oliva.

At initially, their correspondence consisted of rather routine updates about one another’s life, careers, and families.

Soon after, Oliva started sending Vail audio tapes. At first, these tapes seemed innocent enough and frequently contained strange but entertaining skits, including one in which Oliva pretended to be interviewing a macaroon cookie.

A few years of exchanging “stupid sh*t” later, however, Vail claimed that the tone of Oliva’s letters quickly turned darker and more ominous about 1989.
