Woman Walks to Boston Hospital After Going Into Labor at Pink Concert

A New York mother gave birth to a healthy baby boy at a Pink concert in Boston after going into labor unexpectedly.

According to a press statement from Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Angela Mercer was just 31 weeks pregnant when she went from Albany to witness the star perform at Fenway Park last week.

She was on a girls’ trip to honor her mother Barbara’s birthday, but “things didn’t quite go to plan.”

According to the hospital, Mercer became aware that she was having contractions soon after arriving at the musical location. She was instructed to visit a hospital after calling her doctor, but figuring out how to get there wasn’t easy.

The concert-related traffic mayhem made it difficult for the trio to secure a ride to Brigham and Women’s.

They decided to walk the little over a mile to the hospital from Fenway Park.

Angela subsequently gave birth to her son in the Brigham’s NICU, according to the hospital. “She and her family decided the fastest way to get to Brigham and Women’s was to walk – and so, decked out in their concert outfits, they made the trek to our hospital,” the hospital noted.

In a statement from the new mom, Angela said she and her husband Ace are “incredibly grateful to the exceptional team at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.”

“The medical, case management, and social work staff guided us confidently with their knowledge and expertise, all while being personable, empathetic, and engaging. We are sincerely appreciative,” she added.

And although “the family didn’t get to enjoy the concert, they say they received the greatest gift of all — a healthy baby boy,” the hospital added, calling Aycen “Pink’s newest, and youngest, fan.”
