Several times, the Duke of Sussex has apologized for his “poor choice of costume” from that year.

The uproar surrounding Prince Harry’s Nazi costume will resurface in The Crown’s forthcoming season.

The cast and crew of the popular Netflix series looked to be filming scenes of what happened after Prince Harry wore a contentious attire to a costume party in 2005 for the sixth and final season.

In photographs taken on the set of The Crown, a guy is seen carrying newspapers that include a picture of Prince Harry on the top page, the monarch’s grandson sporting a swastika band around his arm.

In the last season of The Crown, actor Luther Ford, who plays Prince Harry as a young adult, reenacted the notorious photograph.

Prince Harry, who is now 38, has frequently shown regret about the insulting attire, notably by issuing an apology shortly after the incident.

Prince Harry, 20, apologized in the statement, saying he was “very sorry if I caused any offense or embarrassment to anyone.”

I apologize; that was a bad choice of costume, he continued.

A short while later, in response, the Board of Deputies of British Jews stated that they were “pleased” with Harry for accepting responsibility for “his ill-judged actions.”

The Duke of Sussex asserted in his memoir Spare, which was published in January, that his sister-in-law Kate Middleton and brother Prince William had urged him to dress in Nazi garb for the costume party. In his autobiography, Harry said that the Prince and Princess of Wales “howled with laughter” when they first saw him in the cast.

“I called Willy and Kate and enquired as to their opinions. After admitting that he thought about wearing a pilot uniform to the “Native and Colonial”-themed costume party, Harry wrote, “They said Nazi uniform.

“I returned to the house after renting it and adding a funny mustache. I put everything on. Both of them howled. More terrible than Willy’s leotard attire! More ludicrous still! which was the purpose once more,” he stated.

Prince Harry recounted the “firestorm” that ensued after the images appeared in newspapers. There were times over the following weeks and months that he claimed in Spare that “I thought I might die of shame.”

On June 6, 2023 in London, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, comes to give testimony at the Mirror Group Phone Hacking Trial in the Rolls Building at High Court.

He labeled it “one of the biggest mistakes of my life” in an episode of the Netflix series Harry & Meghan that debuted in December 2022.

“All I wanted to do was make it right,” he continued.

Harry claimed that despite the fact that he “could’ve just ignored it and probably made the same mistakes over and over again,” he “learned from” the experience.

In order to correct his mistake, Prince Harry remembers sitting down with the top rabbi in London and meeting with a Holocaust survivor. Additionally, he brought up the notion of “unconscious bias” in his own family.

“You then need to make it right,” he continued, “once it’s been pointed out or identified within yourself.” “It’s awareness, education, and a never-ending work in progress for everyone, including me,” the speaker said.

Harry and Meghan Markle signed a five-year, $100 million deal with Netflix in September 2020 to make documentaries, docuseries, feature films, and other content.

The sixth and final season of The Crown, which is also available on Netflix, is currently in production and will detail both the beginning of Prince William and Kate’s relationship as college students and Princess Diana’s passing in 1997.
