As a married couple, Charli Worgan and her husband Cullen frequently face the question of when they will have children. However, their situation is a little different from most. Both Charli and Cullen have different forms of dwarfism, which often subjects them to public scrutiny. When Charli became pregnant with their first child, she decided to start a social media account to share their family life and educate others about their experiences. Little did she know that her account would gain over 300,000 followers!

Now, Charli and Cullen have two beautiful daughters, Tully and Tilba, and recently announced that they are expecting their third baby. However, their joy is tempered by the challenges they face. Due to their genetic conditions, their children could inherit one type of dwarfism from either parent, be of average height, or inherit both types, which doctors say would be fatal. This means that with each pregnancy, Charli has to endure painful genetic testing.

Instead of celebrating the 12-week point in her pregnancy like most moms, Charli finds herself undergoing invasive testing to determine the genetic makeup of her baby. She explains that she has to line up for Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS), which involves a large needle through her abdomen to sample the placenta. This procedure carries a 2% risk of miscarriage. It is a heart-wrenching experience for Charli, who longs to enjoy her pregnancy without such anxieties.

Charli and Cullen patiently await the results, knowing that there are four possibilities for their baby’s condition:

  1. The baby will be of average height.
  2. The baby will have Achondroplasia, the same form of dwarfism as Charli.
  3. The baby will have Geleophysic Dysplasia, the same form of dwarfism as Cullen.
  4. The baby will inherit both genetic variations, known as “double dominant dwarfism,” which is expected to be fatal upon birth.

In her Instagram post, Charli expresses the intense emotions surrounding their situation. She shares that she has faced criticism for choosing to have babies with these odds, but by sharing this glimpse into their lives, she hopes others will see that the decision is not taken lightly. Charli emphasizes the importance of kindness and understanding.

Despite the challenges and criticism they face, Charli and Cullen are now proud parents of three beautiful children. Their love and determination are evident in their children’s thriving well-being. Charli recently gave birth to their baby boy, Rip, and shared a heartwarming post along with a picture of her newborn.

As parents, Charli and Cullen know that there is no one “right” way to do motherhood or fatherhood. Every parent faces their own unique struggles and joys. Through her inspiring posts, Charli reminds us all that her life as a parent is just like anyone else’s. She has become an inspiration to many, and we wish this incredible family health and happiness on their journey together.
