“Two thousand pounds of granite or concrete fell on him,” Robert Irwin’s daughter, Jennifer Hussman, said of her father’s accident

Man Dies After Stone Slab Falls on Him

Monday at his place of employment, a stone slab toppled on a Nebraskan man, killing him.

According to Omaha news outlet KETV, authorities responded to a call to stone supplier UGM Surfaces regarding the accident that claimed the life of 60-year-old Robert Irwin.

Irwin was struck by a marble that toppled over when it was being placed into a truck, according to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), according to WMTV-NBC 15.

Irwin was receiving CPR when he was taken to Bergan Mercy Hospital, but was later declared dead, according to authorities, as reported by KETV.

Irwin’s death is still under investigation by OSHA, according to KETV and WMTV-NBC 15.

In response to learning of her father’s accident, Irwin’s daughter, Jennifer Hussman, told WMTV-NBC 15: “I got a voicemail that said he had been injured and I knew with what he did it probably wasn’t good.”

She continued, “It was the worst news I’ve ever received in my life.” “Two thousand pounds of concrete or granite fell on him.”

The first person I contacted for anything was him. Hussman referred to her father as being her “best friend.” He spent his entire life working and was a diligent worker. Anything was done for his children. Everything is for my brother and I.

I won’t get to see my dad, and my children won’t get to see their grandpa, she said. Because he went to work, if my brother ever has a child, that child will never get to meet him.
