The accident, which was the second to happen recently near French Valley Airport, is being looked into right now.

On Saturday, a plane tragedy in Southern California claimed the lives of six individuals.

When “heavy fog blanketed the area,” producing low visibility conditions as it attempted to land, a Cessna C550 business jet crashed into a Murrieta field close to French Valley Airport, according to local television station KTLA. The runway was missed “by several hundred yards.”

According to a news release from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the private plane crashed early in the morning.

According to the press release, deputies arrived at the scene of the Murrieta field crash around 4:15 a.m. The jet was entirely in flames when they got there.

According to the announcement, six people were found and were declared dead at the site.

Alma Razick, 51, Ibrahem Razick, 46, Lindsey Gleiche, 31, Manuel Vargas-Regalado, 32, Abigail Tellez-Vargas, 33, and Riese Lenders, 25, were the people, according to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.

According to KTLA, the 45-minute flight took off from Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas.

The jet was operated by a licensed commercial pilot, according to the National Transportation Safety Board, which is probing the disaster alongside the Federal Aviation Administration.

According to KTLA, the NTSB said at a news conference on Saturday that the pilot alerted air traffic control that he would be making a “missed approach” (a technique that typically takes place when runways are not visible).

When Murrieta is covered in thick fog, as was the case on Saturday morning, it can feel “almost like a whiteout if you’re in the hills,” according to Patrick O’Neil, manager of a nearby plant nursery.

The Californian guy told KTLA that “it’s almost like you’re driving blindfolded,” adding that “you couldn’t see probably two to five feet in front of you.”

The incident caused a small fire to start in the field, but firefighters were able to put it out after approximately an hour, according to a tweet from the Riverside County Fire Department. The government estimated the amount of vegetation burned at one acre.

A manager at the airport, Angela Jamison, told ABC News that French Valley Airport would remain closed for an indeterminate period of time while the crash investigation was carried out. In about two weeks, a preliminary report on the investigation will be released.

The crash was the second of two to take place this week close to the Riverside County airport.

On Tuesday, a private plane being flown by Jared Newman of California crashed not far from the airport. According to the NTSB, the 39-year-old had only recently earned his pilot’s license last month.

In a picture posted to a GoFundMe page created for the family after Jared Newman’s passing and the hospitalization of three of his sons, the family of Jared Newman can be seen.

On the spot, Newman was identified as deceased. His kids Connor, Caleb, and Elijah, the other three passengers, all “miraculously” survived and are now in stable condition, according to a GoFundMe page set up for the family.

According to NTSB investigator Elliott Simpson, it is still too early to determine whether the Fourth of July event, which is also under investigation by the FAA and NTSB, is connected to the Saturday morning disaster.
