After six years of marriage, Ricky Martin and Jwan Yosef have decided to divorce.

Martin, a 51-year-old singer-songwriter, and his artist husband will continue to co-raise their two kids together. For his two eldest sons, Martin will be a single parent.

The pair told People on July 6: “We have decided to end our marriage with love, respect, and dignity for our children and honoring what we have experienced as a couple all these wonderful years.”

“Our greatest desire right now is to continue having a healthy family dynamic and a relationship centered on peace and friendship to continue the joint upbringing of our children, preserving the respect and love we have for each other.”

On social media, they both posted a joint statement that read: “After serious thought, we have chosen to dissolve our marriage. For some time, we had considered changing our partnership.

As always, we want to express our gratitude for all the support and love you have given us during our marriage.

“We are supporting this new chapter of our lives together. Jwan and Ricky.

Matteo and Valentino, Martin’s other twin boys, were born in 2008.

Instagram introduced the now-ex-couples in 2015, and after six months of communication, they started dating.

Yosef is a conceptual painter who has received numerous honors for his work.

Livin’ La Vida Loca and She Bangs are two of Martin’s most popular songs. Martin is primarily recognized as a Puerto Rican singing sensation.

He will feature in the historical comedy Palm Royale on Apple TV+ alongside Kristen Wiig, Laura Dern, Allison Janney, and Carol Burnett.

The singer will next embark on a tour with Pitbull and Enrique Iglesias from the end of 2023 to 2024.

Martin has long been open about wanting to start a family.

‘I am gay, I am a closeted gay man, and I’m not going to be able to be a dad,’ he said in an interview with Out magazine. “Many years I dreamed of being a father, and many, many, many times I went through this grieving process.”

When asked about having two fathers, he replied, “My kids ask me about having two daddies and I tell them we are a part of a modern family,” referring to his partnership with Yosef.

“This feeling of independence is lovely.

Then there are some mornings when everyone is sobbing and I think, “OK, maybe we’re fine at six (family members).” “There are times when I want 10 more, and then there are times when I don’t.
