A man and a woman are in custody after reportedly kidnapping two siblings and subjecting them to forced labor on Monday.

Eastwood Two counts of first-degree kidnapping and two counts of first-degree subjecting another person to forced servitude are being brought against Mohammed Mannan, 35, and Cassie Jo Gudino, 27. There are also two counts of second-degree assault against Mannan.

Mannan and Gudino are accused of luring his two relatives from New York with the promise of job, according to Grants Pass police.

According to a police press release, “the suspects allegedly forced the victims to work over a period of months through the use of torture and fear of serious physical injury.” The victims were obligated to give the accused all proceeds from their internet remote work.

A probable cause affidavit obtained by The Oregonian claims that Mannan’s 19-year-old cousin was made to perform housework and work online and give the couple her income. When she disobeyed them, the pair allegedly burnt her with a fire and had her take cold showers.

Her 22-year-old brother’s computer allegedly had laptop security locks installed so he couldn’t get in touch with family. On Sunday, he was successful in leaving the house and dialing 911.

At the house, Mannan and Gudino were detained.

The two victims were taken to the hospital for treatment, and they will meet up with their family in New York after recovering from their injuries.
