At a charity event in California last weekend, a woman approached the TV celebrity and informed him that one of the buyers had discovered the astounding money inside a storage unit.

An older Asian woman sat at the table next to me kept looking at me as if she wanted to tell me something, Dan claimed in a video posted on Twitter.

“At some point, she approached me and revealed that her husband is friends with a man who purchased a unit from me for $500 and discovered a safe inside.

“And I presume they couldn’t or didn’t get the first person they phoned to unlock it.

“They phoned a second person, and when that person opened the safe, it wasn’t empty, despite the fact that safes are often empty.

“It contained £5.8 million ($7.5 million) in cash.”

According to Dan, an attorney who claimed to speak for the original owners of the unit and the money approached the lucky buyer.

The lawyer proposed a reward of £465,000 ($600,000) for the money, but the unidentified buyer rejected the offer.

The second offer, for £930,000 ($1.2 million), was accepted, therefore the finders would return the remaining funds.

The unit’s initial owners were not made public.

Dan wondered who might have left such a sizable wealth in a storage facility.

“$7.5 million in a unit, I don’t think you’d forget it, but maybe you were in a position where somebody else was in charge of it, I don’t know,” he added.

Laura, his co-star and wife, continued, “Credit card went bad, it was finished, they moved away, perhaps the person went to jail – who knows what it was.”
