A mother from Florida is charged with shoplifting from a local store while abandoning her two children in a burning car.

According to the police, the kids managed to flee the automobile with the assistance of onlookers, albeit one of them sustained “several first-degree burns.”

Charges of aggravated child negligence and arson are brought against the defendant, 24-year-old Alicia Moore of Orlando, Florida, in connection with the incident.

On the same day, she was arrested on a separate outstanding warrant for petty theft and assault and battery on a person over 65.

Around noon on May 26, according to the police, Moore and a “unknown male” allegedly spent almost an hour shoplifting inside Orlando’s Oviedo Mall at Dilliard’s.

Before leaving, she took a quick glance outside and noticed that her car was on fire, according to the arrest report that NBC News has received.

Woman’s body was recovered from the water after being seen by onlookers.

She “dropped the stolen merchandise” when she saw the fire and rushed outdoors to aid in saving her kids, according to the report.

Both kids were taken by emergency vehicle to Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital after the fire “completely totaled” the car.

According to the report, one youngster had first-degree burns to her face and ears.

The cause of the fire has not yet been disclosed by the authorities, and the police report indicated that it was unknown.

The report explicitly stated that Moore’s alleged carelessness contributed to the injuries suffered by the kids, and also stated that “the fire occurred during the commission of a felony by Moore.”

On-site arrests were made for Moore.

Regarding the “unknown male” who was allegedly shoplifting with Moore, no additional information has been made public.

She did request legal representation but declined to provide police with any other information about what happened besides her bio.

According to court documents, her bond has been set at $20,000, and her arraignment is planned for June 27.

According to Sky News, she entered a “not guilty” plea to all of the allegations on Friday.
